Prophetik - Sustainable Fashion On Trend
Estethica, Esthetica, Forward PR, Jeff Garner, Sustainable Fashion, Vauxhall Fashion Scout
Jeff Garner, who previously exhibited at Esthetica, will be doing his first catwalk show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout on Febuary 19th, 2010.
What’s your inspiration?
The soul, life, love, tragedy, the senses, and being in tune with Mother Nature. This season was influenced by the American Civil War, which was a time of great change yet sacrifice. Countering the strife and uncertainty of war, the range represents hope and a romantic notion of another time. Colours include indigo, silver, charcoal, tomato red and olive green. Flowing dresses and capes, jackets of all lengths and layers, echo early concepts of sustainability when resources were scarce.
Where do you source your fabrics and do your production?
Fabrics are sourced from California, North Carolina, and Canada and all production is done in Tennessee.
Why have you chosen to show at London Fashion Week?
I respect London and the UK in their drive for sustainable and ethical fashion. I’m looking forward to doing and all-sustainable catwalk show at Vauxhall Fashion Scout. I’m hoping it will set a marker for the future of the industry and that I can be catalyst to encourage other companies and individuals to get involved in sustainability. Plus, I can dress like a dandy in the UK, not so much in the States!
Where you always interested in ethical fashion?
Sustainable and ethical fashion has always been a natural draw for me growing up on a horse farm in Tennessee. I love the challenge of designing and manufacturing within the limitations of sustainable components.
Is sustainable fashion growing?
I believe that all fashion will go the sustainable direction. I think it is the only direction it can go, it’s like a CD is to a cassette tape. I don’t think society will ever slow down on consumerism but I do believe that it will eventually insist on purchasing fashion made of all sustainable elements.
You mentioned you mainly eat berries?
Yes, I am on a monotone diet and eat the same organic food everyday: açaí - the Brazilian berry that has the highest level of antioxidants, plain organic yogurt and homemade granola.
Who are your UK Stockist?
Equa and Eco Age
