Green Dress for Red Carpet

Suzy wore a Prophetik design straight off the London Runway to Global Green's Pre-Oscar Party.  This party also marked her announcement of what dress she planned to wear to the big event.

"Suzy Cameron created a design contest for an eco-friendly red-carpet gown, and 21 year-old Michigan State University Senior, Jillian Granz won. We can all cozy up on our couches sunday night and get a glimpse of the flowing gown, which is made of Peace Silk. James Cameron is a hard-core environmentalist who made an empassioned speech at the party, where he called for a mobilization on a scale equal to that of World War Two, in our effort to fight climate change" (Gorgeously Green)

Prophetik's Earth Day Weekend Events will include a silent auction of 13 sustainable dresses designed by students for the Green Dress for Red Carpet competition.

Fashion Thirst Blog writes a "love letter" to it's readers about Prophetik debut at LFW2010

There is a bit of romanticism hidden beneath the bloody battle of war, and this can be seen in the Southern Shores collection. Garner says of the collection,

"Southern Shores is influenced by being raised in the South, in this culture, and [by] the history of being in Franklin, Tennessee, which was the bloodiest battle of the Civil War.  We need to learn that fighting is not always the answer, you know? There is always another way."

We often fail to acknowledge the love and romance hidden behind the fight.  There is an extensive collection of love letters recovered from the Civil War.  Soldiers wrote their hopes for a future of love on the land they were fighting to keep for their own. The following is an excerpt of a letter written from Nashville, Tennessee in 1863:

 "Your letters are received by me with the greatest pleasure, and a beating heart always waits a reply. I have written a good many letters to other girls. Letters of friendship, but those I write to you. I want you to receive them for more than mere friendship. For let me say that your memory is ever dear to me and if we never again meet on Earth I shall ever Cherish the fond remembrance of Thee, and think of the pleasant hours passed in your society, but let me indulge the hope that we may again meet ere long." (Civil War Love Letters)

If we can focus on love like this, we can spread the message Garner implies when he says, "There's always another way."  Prophetik spreads the philosophy that if we understand and embrace love, it can lead to a great future where we act in ways that relieve the suffering of people.

Editor of Fashion Thirst Blog, Monica Cummings, has written us a "love letter" of her own and comments on the romanticism.  She writes of the Southern Shores debut at London Fashion Week 2010,

“ Save the best until last…this red, recycled velvet bustier brightened up the room.  The romantic, beautiful flowing line and bold colour is a sumptious garment bringing out the elegance of femininity.”
